* These are one-time charges that will not be required to be spent every year. After the initial set up is complete, updates are billed at $50 per hour a-la-carte, or $40 per hour for clients who sign a monthly marketing agreement. In addition to website development, we also require clients utilize our basic hosting and security package, below.

Hosting and Security Package (Required):

In addition to our set up and design fee, we charge a flat $200 per year for a basic hosting and security package. It includes:

  • transferring/renewing of one domain name (even though you have purchased a domain name, I would still need to manage the DNS, forwarding, etc. for the site to work with it),
  • hosting of the site at DreamHost,
  • up to 3 personalized email addresses,
  • regular backups (we use a premium service called Back Up Buddy and ftp the files to a different server for added security and easy site restoration, if needed), and
  • updates to software and plugins on a monthly basis (this protects against site bugs, but also against hacker vulnerabilities).

We require these services be part of our overall package for several reasons. One, because it is more efficient when all our sites are hosted in one place, as opposed to trying to troubleshoot issues when sites are on hosting services we am not familiar with or do not have the same security protocols. In addition, we need to be certain that proper back ups and updates are taking place and the only way we can be sure of that is if we do them. This is rarely something we make an exception for.

This package includes your own administrative login to the WordPress back-end. Clients are welcome to take the site we developed for them and manage it themselves without having to pay an hourly rate, or only pay us when they can’t do something on their own and need our help. This is what our a-la-carte hourly rate is all about. The $200 per year gives you hosting, security, backups and peace of mind knowing we are there to help you if you get in a bind. No strings attached.
